Questions we hear most

When is the best time to visit Italy?

Late April through mid June and September through October give you warm days, manageable crowds, and better hotel rates than July and August. August is hot, humid, and busy, and many local businesses close.

How far ahead should I book a river cruise?

Nine to twelve months for standard sailings, and twelve to eighteen months for Christmas market and tulip season departures. Those sell out first because the ships are small.

How many cities should I visit in ten days?

Three at most. Two if you want to actually rest. Every hotel change costs you the better part of a day, so we build routes around a small number of bases with day trips.

Is a river cruise better than an ocean cruise for Europe?

River cruising docks you in the center of small towns with 100 to 190 guests aboard, so it feels intimate and walkable. Ocean cruising covers more coastline for less money per night. It depends on the pace you want.
