GETAWAYS DESTINATION GUIDE
Every island has its own personality, and picking the right one matters more than picking the right resort. Here's how we think about the Caribbean: the islands, the seasons, and the honest answers to what it costs.
The best beach water in the Caribbean, full stop. Grace Bay is calm, flat, and impossibly clear. Home to Beaches Turks and Caicos, our most booked family resort.
Lush, lively, and full of personality. Great all inclusive value, Dunns River Falls, and some of our favorite Sandals and Beaches properties.
The dramatic one. The Pitons, rainforest, and resorts built into hillsides with open wall views. A honeymoon classic for couples who want more than a beach chair.
Outside the hurricane belt, dry and sunny nearly all year. The dependable pick when you're traveling in late summer or fall.
December to April
Peak season: the driest weather and the highest prices. Book 9 to 12 months out for holiday and spring break weeks.
May to June
A sweet spot. Warm, quieter, and noticeably better rates before summer storm season.
July to October
The best prices of the year, with heat, humidity, and storm risk. Travel insurance matters here, and the ABC islands stay reliably dry.
November
A lovely shoulder month. Crowds haven't returned yet and the weather settles.
For pure beach, Turks and Caicos or Aruba. For all inclusive value, Jamaica or Punta Cana. For scenery and romance, Saint Lucia. We match the island to your travel style before we ever talk resorts.
A week at an all inclusive for two usually runs $2,500 to $5,000 at a comfortable resort, and $6,000 and up at luxury properties. Flights, month, and island move the number more than anything.
A cruise samples four or five islands in a week and includes your meals and entertainment. A resort goes deep on one island with a slower pace. First timers who love variety cruise; beach lovers do better at a resort.
Officially June through November, with the highest risk in September and early October. Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao sit outside the belt, and good travel insurance covers the rest.
