When Should You Book Spring Break Travel?
Getaways by CCTC · September 17, 2026

Spring break is the hardest week of the year to book well, because millions of families are locked into the same seven days. The fix is simple: start earlier than feels necessary.
The timeline we recommend
Why it's different from other weeks
Demand is fixed and supply is not. Resorts don't add rooms for March. The properties families love (the ones with water parks, kids clubs, and suites that sleep five) sell out first, and they sell out to people who booked last spring.
If you're booking late
Shift one variable. Fly midweek, travel the week before or after your district's break, look at a shoulder destination like Curacao or Aruba instead of Cancun, or consider a cruise leaving from a drive to port. Any one of those can save real money.
Deposits protect you
Most resorts and cruise lines hold a spring break booking with a modest deposit and don't need final payment until 45 to 120 days out. Booking early rarely means paying early, and if the price drops before final payment we'll re-price it for you.
What we watch for you
Group rates when several families travel together, flight schedules that don't eat a vacation day, and resorts where the kids club is genuinely good rather than a room with a TV.
