Is a Disney Cruise Worth the Money?

Getaways by CCTC · November 5, 2026

Fireworks over the night sky reflected on water

Disney Cruise Line usually runs 30 to 60% more than a comparable Caribbean sailing. Here's what that money buys, honestly.

What you actually get

Rotational dining where your servers move with you. Broadway caliber shows. Youth clubs that kids beg to go back to. Staterooms with split bathrooms, which is a bigger deal than it sounds with a family of four. And Castaway Cay, the best private island at sea.

What's included

Soft drinks, room service, and every kids club hour. No upcharge for the shows or the character experiences. Gratuities and alcohol are extra.

When it's worth it

Families with kids between three and twelve. First cruises. Multigenerational trips where the grandparents want the kids happily occupied. If the split bathroom and the youth clubs buy you real rest, the premium pays for itself.

When we'd point you elsewhere

Couples without kids, travelers who want a drink package and a casino, and anyone whose priority is the lowest cost per night. Royal Caribbean or Celebrity will serve you better.

Saving on it

Sail in early December, late January, or September. Choose a four night over a seven. Book a Navigator's Verandah instead of a full balcony. And book early: Disney fares rise as sailings fill, they rarely drop.
