All Inclusive Resort vs Cruise: Which One Should You Book?

Getaways by CCTC · November 3, 2026

Swim up suite with a private terrace beside a calm pool

We book both every week, and the choice almost always comes down to one question: do you want to unpack once and stay, or wake up somewhere new?

Book the resort if

You want the same beach chair every morning, a swim up bar, and zero logistics. Resorts win on space, on pool time, on adults only options, and on the sheer relief of not moving.

Book the cruise if

You'd get restless on day four. A cruise gives you three or four destinations, evening entertainment, and a genuinely different rhythm. It also handles picky eaters better than almost any resort.

Cost

Similar at the top line. The resort price is closer to final: flights, transfers, food, and drinks are in. A cruise fare looks lower until you add drinks, wifi, gratuities, excursions, and flights to the port.

Food

Cruises win on variety. Good all inclusives now win on quality, especially the higher end brands with a la carte dining and no reservation games.

With kids

Both work beautifully. Cruises are better for teens who want independence. Resorts are better for toddlers and nap schedules.

Our usual advice

First big trip together, or the first one with little ones: resort. Travelers who like to see things, or families with a wide age spread: cruise.

Tell us who's traveling and we'll price both so you can compare honestly.
