Group trips are the vacations people talk about for years. They are also the ones where eight people try to plan a single dinner reservation by group text. Here is how to do it well.

Start with one decision maker

Every group needs a point person, but that person should not have to do everything. Our job is to take the work off their plate while keeping the group informed.

Decide the budget early

Talk about the total number, not just the hotel. Include flights, transfers, meals, activities, and a buffer. Be honest if the budget range is wide.

Pick a destination that fits the group

Cruises and all-inclusive resorts are the easiest group trips because they keep everyone together, offer multiple price points, and include most meals.

Beach destinations work for mixed ages. City trips work for groups with similar interests. National parks work for active groups.

Where to stay

For groups of eight or more, villas, vacation homes, or connecting rooms often beat a block of standard hotel rooms. For weddings and reunions, we can negotiate group rates.

Handle the money upfront

Collect one credit card or set up a payment link for deposits. Trying to chase Venmo payments three weeks before departure is a quick way to sour the trip.

Build in free time

The best group itineraries have one or two group activities per day and plenty of open time. Nobody wants to be on a bus together from eight in the morning until eight at night.
