National Park Vacations
Big skies, bigger mountains, and evenings on a lodge porch. National park trips are wonderful and they're also the ones people most often under-plan, because lodging and permits book up a year out. That's where we come in!
Where to go in National Parks
Yellowstone and Grand Teton
The classic pairing. Geysers and wildlife in one park, jagged peaks and lake mornings in the other. Fly into Jackson Hole and drive the loop.
Utah's Mighty 5
Zion, Bryce, Arches, Canyonlands and Capitol Reef. Red rock everywhere, easy road trip distances, and shoulder seasons that are gorgeous.
Glacier and the Canadian Rockies
Alpine lakes, Going-to-the-Sun Road, and lodges with views worth the early wake-up. A lovely pick for a summer week.
When to visit National Parks
May and June
Wildflowers, baby animals, and fewer people. Some high roads may still be closed, so we plan around them.
July and August
Peak everything. Beautiful weather and busy trails. Lodges need booking 9 to 13 months out.
September and October
Our favorite. Golden light, cool mornings, elk bugling, and far calmer trails.
Winter
A quiet, snowy world in Yellowstone and Zion, best with a guide and a warm lodge.
Questions we hear most
How far ahead should we book a national park trip?
In-park lodges open roughly 13 months out and fill fast, so a year ahead is ideal. We can still build a great trip with less notice using gateway towns.
Do we need a car?
Usually yes. Distances are big and shuttles only cover part of it. We'll map drive times so nobody spends the whole vacation in the car.
Are these trips good for kids?
Wonderfully so. Junior ranger programs, easy boardwalk hikes, and wildlife sightings kids talk about for years.
