GETAWAYS DESTINATION GUIDE

Las Vegas Vacations

Shows, restaurants, pools, and the Grand Canyon a short flight away. Vegas is one of the easiest getaways to book badly and one of the most fun when the hotel, the shows, and the pool days line up.

Where to go in Las Vegas

The Strip

Big resorts, pools, and shows within walking distance. Best for a first trip or a celebration weekend.

Off-Strip and Summerlin

Quieter resorts, better value, and golf. A nice pick if you want the shows without the crowds at breakfast.

Day trips

Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, and Valley of Fire. A half day out makes the whole trip feel bigger.

When to visit Las Vegas

March to May

Warm, sunny pool weather without the summer heat. Our favorite window.

June to August

Very hot. Great pool rates, and we plan mornings and evenings outdoors, afternoons inside.

September to November

Comfortable days and lovely evenings. Watch big convention weeks for pricing.

December to February

Cool and quiet, with the best hotel rates outside the holidays.

Questions we hear most

Is Las Vegas good for families?

It can be, with the right resort. We steer families to pool-heavy properties, and pair it with the Grand Canyon or Zion for a real trip.

What are resort fees?

A daily add-on charge most Vegas hotels collect at checkout. We'll tell you the real all-in number before you book, not just the nightly rate.

How many nights?

Three or four. Vegas is a wonderful long weekend and gets tiring past five nights unless you add a day trip.
